Anjana Dongre is an exponent of Bharatanatyam, a revered classical dance form of India. She
has trained intensively under the able guidance of Shreemati Gayatri Vekantraman.
Continuing the tradition, she completed her Arangetram under Guru UmaDevi Dutt, an
alumnus of Kalakshtera (Chennai). Currently, she continues her journey of dance from Shri
Pandit Venugopal Pillai and Smt Jayshree Pillai of Shree Tanjavur Nritya Shala. Smt Anjana
Dongre is also on the exam panel of Bhartiya Sangeet Samiti, Mumbai and the Academy
affiliates itself with the same. She proudly holds a Masters Degree in Fine Arts (MFA) from
Kalidasa University, Nagpur. She has also gained perspective in her Bharatanatyam training by attending workshops of several stalwarts including Shri C.V Chandrashekhar, Smt
Rukmini Vijaykumar.
She believes dance to be the path for spiritual fulfilment and adheres to the principles of
dedication that revolve around this Art Form. Being a strict disciplinarian she focuses on a
strict routine that is adhered to, in her classes. Her adequate focus on technique, talam is
visible in the performances. She lays focus even on Shloka recitation and theoretical
understanding of dance. She has given way to several experiments of staging Dance Ballets
on themes ranging from the River Ganga to that of the initials of the word NRITYAM
integrated with the manifestations of Lord Shiva. She has transcended several boundaries
through her performances as well as provided an equal platform for her students.
Anjana Dongre has a keen eye for inclusivity and this is seen by her close connection with
the TATA Memorial Hospital where she has provided training in dance to cancer patients.
With a heart of humility she craves to make dance an inclusive art form, shunning down
boundaries of age, gender, religion, income status and other disabilities.

The stage is always an incentive to create, innovate and exhibit our art. Ranging from our tiny dancers to the senior ones, we use the stage to offer our dance to the God, Guru and Sabha.
